Observations at Maison et Objet 2016

Visiting the main trade shows in Europe is crucial for a professional interior designer. I get to see all the latest products and pick up what is happening in the design world. I have to be a step ahead.

A major is show is Maison Et Objet in Paris http://www.maison-objet.com/en  What is on display at this enormous show is the very decorative end of design, lots of wallpapers, lighting vases that sort of stuff. As a result its an easy way to pick up on what trends are emerging.

This year I picked up on three key styles. One of which is shown above. I discovered Frato, http://www.frato-interiors.com/  A furnishing company that has created a very distinctive look reminiscent of the louche 70’s Palm Springs.

A clear indicator that glamour is back in the guise of back lit onyx and agates, velvets in coral and acqua, quilted headboards, plenty of shimmer and anything metal is gold.

It is a strong and stylish look, slightly retro but I for one welcome it back.

The other two styles I spotted/ I’ll report back when I have a moment.
